Sue Dermody is the Site Manager at the Harrison Site, and she oversees operations at all sites as well. She was first introduced to Eve Center founder Cinny Roy in 2004 as she was pursuing affordable counseling services for women in her community in Harrison and southeast Indiana. This was because many women came to her with their stories rather than to a pastor or male leader. She took the Volunteer Peer Counselor training in 2011, came on as staff as the West Site Manager, and Director of Client Services shortly thereafter. She resigned in 2016 and returned to staff in 2024. Through it all, she continuously worked as an ambassador in her community for Eve Center’s no-cost, faith-based peer counseling services for women.
Sue received her Biology Degree with a minor in Psychology from Indiana University, pursuing the links of truth between scripture and science. She was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, and earned a full scholarship for her Master’s Degree in Health Planning and Administration from the University of Cincinnati. Because of a tragic car accident involving her boyfriend (now husband) at the age of 21 in which two teenagers were killed, she has leaned into the need to treat every day as precious and the urgency to live for the glory of Christ. She has held many volunteer leadership positions in the local church, Reach Out Pregnancy Center, the YMCA, and her children’s PTO. She has worked at Children’s Hospital, long-term care facilities, Sunman Dearborn Community Schools, and for a small business who designs and builds industrial playground equipment for parks and schools in the Ohio and Kentucky areas. With a true heart for discipleship and mentoring, her favorite current volunteer role is working at the ConnectionPoint desk at Bright Christian Church where she matches folks with small groups and helps them find their place in the local church. She lives in the hills of Indiana with her husband of 35 years. They have three grown children, a daughter-in-law, and son-in-law. They have two precious grandchildren who they take on walks and to play on playgrounds. She enjoys creating through crochet and other arts. She loves curating vintage items in a couple of venues in the Cincinnati area. She’s a big fan of Indiana University sports, and she follows the Reds and the Bengals, too.
Her calling is found in the 15 verses of Titus 2, but she leans in every day to the story of Nehemiah and the truth of Nehemiah 8:10b: “the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
