What should I expect in a counseling session?

A safe and confidential place to be heard, loved and valued with a focus on tools and steps to reach a specific goal, defined by you, in emotional, relational and/or spiritual healing.  We open in prayer (if desired); we listen and we equip with proven effective tools and coping skills.  Each session is 50 min with a Volunteer Peer Counselor who has been through something similar as you.

How am I matched to my volunteer peer counselor?

Our first step is always PRAYER, asking the LORD which peer counselor is right.  We do our best to match you with a woman who has been through something similar to what you are going through.  Of course, location and availability come into play as well.

Are my counseling sessions confidential?

Yes! “Safe” and “Confidential” are intentionally a part of our Mission Statement. We go through great lengths to be sure everything said in peer counseling sessions is kept confidential.  We do not even write the names of clients anywhere in our sites; we always use her peer counselors’ name and the client initials when scheduling appointments.

To keep confidence, our intake process is through a confidential program requiring a username and password unique to each client and volunteer.  The only person that can see the information on the intake is the Director and Site Manager.

What should I expect when participating in a Recovery Group?

A safe, non-judgmental and confidential environment to heal and grow; Deep healing and validation happen when we are in a community of women who have all experienced a similar trauma.  Discussions on topics for healing are led by 2 peer counselors who have been through the experience themselves: topics like Impact, Acceptance, Guilt, Depression, Anger, Grief, Forgiveness and more.

How much do Eve Center services cost?

There is no-cost to any Eve Center Client Service.  Eve Center was created, in part, to remove the financial barriers to mental health.

Our services are no cost to our clients because donors who believe in the impact Eve Center makes in women’s lives have paid for the services to be provided.

What kind of training do volunteers receive?

All Eve Center Volunteers go through a 12-Week Training Course designed to equip women to listen well, understand healthy boundaries, use the power of prayer, understand healthy relationships, and gain tools to help others cope with anxiety, grief, depression, anger, identity, and their relationship with God.

How do I get involved?

Our 12-unit peer counselor training course is designed to equip you to become a peer-counselor, enrich your life experiences and empower you to minister at the Eve Center. This is accomplished through written curriculum, life experience sharing, role play, and weekly assignments. Chapters include listening skills, personality assessment, confidentiality, boundaries, prayer, forgiveness, anxiety, codependency, depression, anxiety, anger, and role definition. The course is led by a team of trained Staff and volunteers of the Eve Center.

This course begins 2 Times each year: First week of February and September.  To apply, visit: https://evecenter.org/basic-training/
